Thorgan Hazard explains Chelsea departure
Thorgan Hazard has revealed during his time at Stamford Bridge he was simply known as ‘Eden’s brother’.
The 22-year-old joined Chelsea in 2012 but only spent a month at the club with his older brother before moving to Belgian side Zulte Waregem on loan.
However, he left London permanently this summer after completing a move to Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach.
One of the reason’s behind his move to Germany was that so he could have a successful career of his own and not live under the shadow of his brother.
Despite moving from Lens where he made his professional debut to Chelsea three years ago, the 22-year-old thought life wouldn’t be easy at The Blues:
Quoted in the Mail Online , he said:
I thought it would be hard at Chelsea, being Eden’s brother. It is for this that I stayed only for one month there and then left on loan. I want to go my own way.
Before going to Belgium, I was just the brother of Eden. In Belgium I showed what I can do myself. Afterwards, they did not say they did not say that I was Eden’s brother.
Before moving to Monchengladbach permanently for £5.9 million, the midfielder had a spell at the club on loan where he made 28 appearances but has only featured once for the Belgium national side.
