A poor start to the season was always something which Chelsea fans – and everyone else – expected would turn around sooner rather than later; but it did not, and Chelsea are currently sixteenth in the Premier League, with just fifteen points from sixteen games so far. The Blues find themselves behind newly-promoted Bournemouth and a so-far lacklustre Newcastle side – and just one point off the relegation zone
The sacking of Mourinho comes after a 2-1 defeat to Leicester City, in which the Foxes dominated the game and Riyad Mahrez made the Blues defence look amateurish, recording an assist for Jamie Vardy’s opener as well as a stunning goal of his own.

The club have released a statement on their decision, calling it ‘mutual consent’ to part ways with Mourinho.
The Portuguese manager brought the Premier League trophy back to Stamford Bridge with ease last season, but to be arguably in the relegation battle with a squad bursting with world-class talent is inexcusable – and it appears that Roman Abramovich has finally lost faith in who was his right-hand man for so long.
