Real Madrid will step up their pursuit of Chelsea’s Eden Hazard in the summer following the appointment of Zinedine Zidane as their new manager, according to Simon Johnson on the Evening Standard.
The French legend took ofter the role this week after Real sacked Rafa Benitez, and he is a known admirer of Hazard, having said the Belgian was one has his favourite players to watch in an interview that took place prior to him taking the manager’s job.

He said:
After Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Hazard is my favourite player. It is spectacular to see him play. Do I see him going to Real Madrid? I love the player, that’s all I will say.
Hazard has not been in good form for the Blues this season and has failed to get anywhere close to the performance levels that he reached last season where he won the PFA and FWA Player of the Year awards after being the catalyst to Chelsea’s title win.
If Chelsea fail to secure Champions League football next season, which is likely to be the case unless they win the competition this year, Madrid apparently feel that they’ll be able to entice the Belgian to the Spanish capital.
