Diego Simeone remains Chelsea’s number one managerial target for next season, despite Pep Guardiola’s recent comments, according to the Express.
The future of the Bayern Munich manager is being widely speculation at the moment, with the Premier League rumoured to be his next destination. Those rumours were confirmed yesterday when the man himself admitted he wants to manage in England.
I want to experience a new city and I want to work in England. That is the reason I have taken this decision.
Guardiola revealed he has offers from English clubs already:
I have offers from England, but I have not signed a contract yet. When I have a new contract, then we will communicate it.
Despite these comments, Simeone is still the main priority for Chelsea in the summer. After winning the Europa League, La Liga, Super Cup, Copa del Ray and the Spanish Super Cup during his time in Madrid, Chelsea see Simeone as a possible contender to bring long-term stability to the club.
Abramovich had been keen on a move for Guardiola, but the Spaniard looks destined for a move to either of the two Manchester clubs.
Until then, Guus Hiddink remains in charge in a hope of turning Chelsea’s season around.
