Whilst things may not yet be looking up for Eden Hazard this season, the club does have a reason to after the Chelsea forward’s father, Thierry, insisted his son is “completely focused” at Chelsea in Belgian news outlet Het Nieuwsblad.
Though reports have linked Hazard with a move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer, with Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Manchester United all monitoring his situation, Thierry Hazard played down the speculation and insisted his son still has ambitions at Chelsea.
Eden is completely focused on Chelsea. Even with Chelsea he still has ambition. Winning a title might be hard, but finishing in the top three is still possible.
Hazard has struggled to rediscover the sparkling form that won him the PFA Player of the Year award last season, scoring just one goal in his last 26 outings.
The 25-year-old was forced off with injury during Chelsea’s 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace last weekend, and Hazard’s father suggested his fitness has been hampered due to the number of games he has been playing.
Eden now has two injuries in quick succession. I am convinced that his current groin injury related to the hip injury he sustained earlier this season. These injuries happen because he plays a lot of games.
The Blues, who currently sit 14th in the Premier League, will be hoping to continue their unbeaten start under interim manager Guus Hiddink this weekend when they host League One side Scunthorpe in the FA Cup 3rd Round.
