Chelsea have made the first steps towards appointing Manuel Pellegrini as their new manager according to sources close to the Chilean.

As reported by Chilean outlet, El Mercurio, a source close to the manager has revealed the Blues’ intention replace Guus Hiddink with the Manchester City boss.

The source said:

Pellegrini is delighted with the idea of staying in the Premier League. Chelsea is one of the clubs he has been talking to, and they’ve shown a very attractive offer.

On Deadline Day, Pellegrini confirmed when he would be leaving Manchester City and very swiftly after, the club announced that Pep Guardiola would be the man to take over from him, putting to bed any rumours.

Shortly after, odds were slashed from 12/1 to 6/1 on Pellegrini being the new number one at Stamford Bridge next season. In recent days, they have shortened to as little as 2/1.

Pellegrini would come with some pedigree, he has Premier League experience from his time at City, where he guided them to the Premier League title and the League Cup in his debut season.
