Andrea Pirlo has named both John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic in his current best Premier League XI.

In an exclusive interview with Shortlist, the Italian named the Chelsea duo among other Premier League stars, despite their contrasting form this season.

Terry has been amongst the headlines of late, following the news he is set to leave to Chelsea at the end of the season, with the club currently deciding against giving the captain a new contract.

Despite all of that going on around him, Terry has been as professional as ever and has continued to put in performances of the highest standard.

Pirlo compared Terry to Paolo Maldini:

You get players like Maldini for Milan who are so much more than a man on the field, they are part of the club. These are the types of player that are impossible to replace.

Whilst Ivanovic has been in the headlines for other reasons. His form at Chelsea this season has been less appealing. However, the Serbian was handed a 12-month extension at Stamford Bridge earlier this season.

Pirlo said this about the right-back:

He came under some criticism at the start of the season, but it wasn’t just him but Chelsea as a team who were not playing well. Now he looks back to his best, and that means one of the best full-backs in Europe.

The full XI was: Joe Hart, Ivanovic, Vincent Kompany, Terry, Nacho Monreal, Kevin De Bruyne, Philippe Coutinho, Yaya Toure, Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Sergio Aguero.
