Roman Abramovich believes that current Atletico Madrid boss, Diego Simeone, is not the right man to take over Chelsea in the summer.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Abramovich believes that Simeone doesn’t play the style of football he is looking to implement at Stamford Bridge.

After winning La Liga in 2014 and guiding Madrid to a Champions League final, Simeone was thought to be high up on the list of contenders to replace Guus Hiddink.

Simeone is seen as someone that can bring character to Stamford Bridge and match the emotion shown by Jose Mourinho, however, his tactics may also be very similar to Mourinho’s.

There were initial doubts about Simeone’s interest in taking the job, with it looking tough to prize the Argentian away from the Vincente Calderon.

This news makes any move less likely, meaning the Blues may wish to pursue either Antonio Conte or Massimo Allegri. Both Italian managers have been heavily linked with the job.
