Former Chelsea and Germany midfielder, Michael Ballack was full of praise for Cesc Fabregas last night.
Speaking live on BT Sport, Ballack heaped the praise on the Spaniard who has come under some criticism this season for a number of disappointing performances under Jose Mourinho earlier in the season.
I’ve seen a few games from him and I’m always impressed by him, the whole season, he’s a serious player, he knows what he’s doing on the pitch. Even if he’s not very active on television, like today, he always makes 90 per cent the right decisions, in terms of passing, running and closing space.
Since Guus Hiddink’s arrival, Fabregas has blossomed in the Chelsea midfield, showing signs of the excellence that he did during his first season at Stamford Bridge.
The World Cup winner has been one of a number of players that have been key to Chelsea’s mini revival under the Dutchman.
Ballack enjoyed his time at Stamford Bridge after joining on a free from Bayern Munich. He was part of the 2008 squad that came so close to winning the European competition under Avram Grant.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, he scored 25 goals and won the League Cup as well as three FA Cup successes.
