Chelsea target could demand move
Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos will demand a transfer out of Paris this summer due to a lack of playing time, according to Get French football news, who quote L’Equipe.
Reports suggest that the Brazilian is unhappy with his lack of playing time as PSG manager Laurent Blanc prefers the pairing of Thiago Silva and David Luiz, limiting the youngster’s progress.
Marquinhos joined PSG from Roma in 2013 and has been hailed as one of football’s most talented defenders with ability beyond his years, however, his club’s preference of Silva and Luiz has led to the 21-year-old looking to the exit door.
Chelsea reportedly went after the defender in the summer after the club failed to persuade Everton to part ways with John Stones, and the Blues look set to reignite their interest to bolster their defensive options.
He will ask to leave this summer because at the age of 21, you need to think about his football progression. He is always delighted to be playing but he prefers to play in his position, that means in the centre.
The Londoners will face stiff competition from Europe’s elite with Barcelona also rumoured to be interested in the Brazil international as they look to bolster their defence.
With John Terry contract situation still up in the air, Marquinhos would no doubt be a fantastic acquisition to replace the Chelsea skipper.
At just 21-years-old, Marquinhos has the potential to form a long-term partnership with Kurt Zouma at the heart of the Chelsea side.
