Chelsea were eliminated from the Champions League following a 2-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues came into the tie having already lost 2-1 in Paris but having gained a crucial away goal but the French champions levelled the playing field early on with an Adrien Rabiot goal.
Guus Hiddink’s side roared back to pull the tie back to 3-2 on aggregate with Diego Costa scoring before limping off in the second half.
But PSG put the tie to bed with Zlatan Ibrahimovic scoring on his return to London, where he was controversially sent off in last year’s competition, and to put his team through to the quarter-finals and give PSG a 4-2 aggregate win.
For Chelsea, their quest to win the cup and return to the competition next season is now over and PSG remain the only side to beat Guus Hiddink in his second spell in charge.
