There is no doubt that Didier Drogba is one of Chelsea Football Club’s greatest ever strikers.

Joining the club in 2004 from Marseille for a £24 million fee, the Ivorian went on to score 164 goals in 381 appearances while donning the Chelsea badge on his chest.

Today, we are going to celebrate Drogba’s 38th birthday by deciding which one of those 164 goals is his best ever for Chelsea.

FA Cup Final vs Manchester United, 2007

A lovely one-two between Drogba and Frank Lampard was the difference maker in extra-time as Chelsea got their revenge over Manchester United, who had just snatched the Premier League title from them, by beating them to the FA Cup.

Champions League Final vs Bayern Munich, 2012

Drogba scored arguably the most crucial goal in the history of Chelsea Football Club when he thumped home Juan Mata’s cross in the 88th minute to buy the Blues’ some more time against Bayern. We all know what happened next.

Carling Cup Final vs Arsenal, 2007

Drogba earned a reputation for being, as Martin Tyler described him in 2012, “the man for the big occasion”.

His powerful header that connected with Arjen Robben’s cross in the 84th minute left bitter rivals Arsenal with a bad taste in their mouth as Chelsea snatched the Carling Cup from them.

Friendly vs AC Milan, 2011

This ridiculous long-distance drive may have came in a meaningless preseason friendly, but it was without a doubt memorable.

The pace and accuracy of the strike was absolutely remarkable.

Screamer vs Everton, 2006

No-one would have ever expected Drogba to take the ball off his chest and hit it on the half-volley from 35 yards, but that’s exactly what he did against Everton in the 87th minute to steal all three points for Chelsea back in 2006.

Goal vs Liverpool, 2006

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher once said, “…he’s [Drogba] unplayable. In certain positions, there is literally nothing you can do.”

A prime example of that was the striker’s unbelievable quick turn and strike against Liverpool in 2006.

Long-shot vs Bolton, 2011

This unfathomable strike from distance left Bolton goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen helpless as it flew into the back of the net. Drogba scored all different types of goals during his time at Chelsea, long-shots included.

FA Cup Final vs Portsmouth, 2010

A tough Portsmouth side gave Chelsea trouble at Wembley, but it was Drogba who stepped up and asserted his dominance with a stunning free-kick nearly 15 minutes into the second half after coming close to scoring time and time again beforehand.

Free-kick vs Arsenal, 2009

Drogba was no stranger to the dazzling free-kick goal, and his effort against Arsenal in 2009 to kill them off at The Emirates in the Premier League is one to remember.

FA Cup Semi-Final vs Tottenham, 2012

Drogba proved to be unplayable at times, as he did in 2012 against Tottenham when he brought down a long ball with his back to goal and two touches later it had been pounded into the back of the net in almost unrealistic fashion.
