GK - Petr Cech
For me, the position of goalkeeper easily picks itself with Cech. The former blue recently broke the record for most Premier League clean sheets (170) in just 352 games, as well as serving at the club for 11 years.
There’s a case to be made for Thibaut Courtois however I feel we need to wait a few years before comparing him to Cech.
RB - Branislav Ivanovic
This was a close one between Ivanovic and Dan Petrescu, but due to his longevity at the club and the fact he has a Champions League Winners medal, I’ve chosen to go with Ivanovic at right-back.
CB - John Terry (C)
This is the one position that surely doesn’t need to be debated. Terry has been a rock at the back for almost two decades now, winning every major trophy there is to win.
Not only is he Chelsea’s greatest ever centre-back but could well be considered the greatest centre-back to ever play in the Premier League.
CB - Marcel Desailly
Desailly gets the nod for me just in-front of Ricardo Carvalho.
Even though Desailly only won three trophies in his 222 appearances at the Bridge, his trophy cabinet for other clubs is quite impressive.
With the Frenchmen winning back-to-back UEFA Champions Leagues and the 1998 World Cup, he is my choice of partnership with John Terry.
LB - Ashley Cole
Ashley Cole is one of England’s finest full-backs ever produced.
Winning a total of nine trophies for the Blues, Cole has won everything there is to win and gets his spot at left-back just ahead of Graeme Le Saux.
CDM - Claude Makélélé
Claude Makélélé is a master of his position and was considered to be a brick wall in-front of the defence.
In fact, he was so good that he even had a defensive midfield position named after him, the “Makélélé role.”
CM - Dennis Wise
For me, Wise has to have a spot in my starting 11 and is often overlooked during the discussion of Chelsea greats.
Wise won two FA Cups, one League Cup and a UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup during his time at Chelsea, making him the clubs most successful captain.
However, he has since been passed by none other than John Terry.
CM - Frank Lampard
You can’t have an all-time Chelsea list without the mention of Frank Lampard.
Now, although we’ve had some great midfielders over the years, I can’t see anyone having a major disagreement over Lampard.
Not only is he our clubs record scoring player (211), but he was also there at Munich in 2012. So, Super Frank, you’re in my team
RW - Gianfranco Zola
Zola was an immense attacking midfielder, potentially one of the best to ever grace the Premier League.
With his adept control, amazing vision, refined ball skills and top class finishing, the Italian has to make my team.
LW - Eden Hazard
The Belgian winger has come under a lot of criticism as of late and deservedly so, but there is no denying that the 2014-2015 Premier League Player of the Season has been one of the best wingers to pull on a blue shirt.
ST - Didier Drogba
This man was unplayable on his day, a defenders nightmare to be exact.
I had a few players to choose from for this position, but as I was lucky enough to grow up watching Drogba tear apart all types of defenses, he edges out the likes of Peter Osgood and Jimmy Greaves.
Also, the man won us the Champions League!
Honourable mentions
There were some players that just missed the cut, however do deserve to be in the team.
Ron Harris – Defender, 795 games played, 14 goals scored.
Peter Osgood – Striker, 380 games played, 150 goals scored.
Graeme Le Saux – Defender, 312 games played, 16 goals scored.
Jimmy Greaves – Striker, 169 games played, 132 goals scored.
Ricardo Carvalho – Defender, 210 games played, 11 goals scored
Bobby Tambling – Striker, 370 games played, 202 goals scored.
So there we go, this is my all-time starting XI. Looks like one heck of a team!
