Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing midfielder Josh McEachran, despite selling him to Brentford less than 12 months ago.

According to a report by Simon Johnson od the Evening Standard, the 23-year-old is firmly on Chelsea’s radar ahead of a potential move to bring him back to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea pride themselves on having a strong academy structure but very few players are making it through the system and into the first team and they eventually end up getting sold.

McEachran is a perfect example of this. After impressing as a youngster for years and despite numerous loan moves to gain experience, the England U21 couldn’t break through and was allowed to leave by Jose Mourinho.

However, the club have reportedly been monitoring his progress at Brentford this season and are considering bringing him back to the club.

Johnson admits in his report that he doesn’t know if the Blues put a buy-back clause in McEachran’s contract when they sold him.
