Chelsea are ready to threaten Atletico Madrid with FIFA action after the Spanish side claimed they were close to re-signing Diego Costa this summer, according to The Independent.

Atletico chairman Enrique Cerezo claimed that the club were close to signing Costa, whereas this is not the case. This has angered Chelsea, who have threatened them with FIFA sanctions.

However, it is thought that Atletico will still pursue a deal anyway, as they look to bolster their attacking options. Atletico have already tied Antoine Griezmann down to a new contract and are looking to line-up with Griezmann and Costa in La Liga next season.

Chelsea have, however, said they will report Atletico to FIFA if they do not give up in their chase of the Spanish forward. At the moment, the situation really doesn’t look good. Atletico, who don’t want to ruin the relationship between the two clubs, are not giving up and Chelsea are defiant in their stance.
