Chelsea line up move for Ricardo Rodriguez
Despite the fact that they only signed Marcos Alonso in the summer, Chelsea are being linked with a move for Wolfsburg defender Ricardo Rodríguez.
The 24-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best left-backs in Europe and has also attracted the attention of Atletico Madrid, Roma, and Inter Milan.
Antonio Conte has looked to play with wing backs in recent games and his decision to do so has been fully justified. If he intends to continue using this 3-4-3 style system, he will need to invest in more players who can play in the wing back roles as that is such a demanding position.
Swiss international Rodríguez has often been linked with moves away from Wolfsburg and the fact that they are not playing in the Champions League this year and probably won’t be next year either has only fuelled the speculation.
Chelsea will be looking to get back into Europe’s premier competition and if they can do so and Wolfsburg can’t, there’s every chance of them completing a big-money move for Rodríguez.
