Juventus battle Chelsea for Frank Kessie
Chelsea face a battle from Juventus for the signing of highly-rated Atalanta midfielder Frank Kessie, according to the Daily Star.
It was believed that Chelsea thought they had the inside track on the deal by offered to buy the £17m-rated midfielder now and allowing him to remain with the Serie A side on loan until the end of the season.
However, Juventus have emerged as a contender for the player dubbed the “new Yaya Toure” and will match the type of deal that Chelsea are offering.
Antonio Conte has had scouts watch the 19-year-old central midfielder on several occasions this season and Kessie has been nothing short of impressive, scoring five goals and recording two assists in 12 Serie A appearances this season.
Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool have all also sent scouts to watch Kessie in action for Atalanta this season.
Capped 10 times by the Ivory Coast, Kessie has been tipped for a big future in the game and would be a great long-term midfield partner for N’Golo Kante.
