Having finally succumbed to their first defeat in 13 games at the hands of Tottenham on Wednesday night, Chelsea must now turn their attentions to this weekend’s FA Cup second round tie with Peterborough United at Stamford Bridge, with Antonio Conte set to rest several first-team players.

Peterborough are currently enjoying a very good season in League One, sitting in 8th place but with a game in hand that could push them up to 6th. The Posh’s strengths lie in midfield, where Marcus Maddison has scored six goals and assisted 10.

Tom Nichols and Paul Taylor occupy the forward positions and have each scored seven and five goals respectively, while West Ham loanee Martin Samuelsen adds creativity in behind the striker.

As well as the signing of Samuelsen, Peterborough have added further to their options ahead of the Cup tie, with Rotherham defender Dominic Ball also coming in on loan.

Chelsea will hope to utilise fringe players like Michy Batshuayi, Nathaniel Chalobah and Ola Aina against Peterborough while returning loanees Charly Musonda and Kenedy are also hoping to impress Conte on Sunday. The Blues currently have no injury concerns or suspensions to deal with, although a rotated squad is expected. Meanwhile, defender Jack Baldwin is the only injury worry for the Posh.
