Chelsea said to be interested in Ross Barkley
Chelsea will look to add depth in the attacking third of the pitch in the summer and have identified one target already.
According to the Mirror, the Blues have joined the race to sign unsettled Everton midfielder Ross Barkley in the summer but face competition from Tottenham and Arsenal for the England international.
Everton are in a similar boat with Barkley as Arsenal are in with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil. With his contract expiring at the end of next season, Everton will be forced to sell Barkley in the summer if he doesn’t put pen-to-paper on a long-term extension with the club or risk losing him on a free transfer next summer.
Capped 22 times by England, Barkley has been one of English football’s most talented players for some time but has struggled for consistency to realise his potential.
With seven assists and four goals this season, Barkley is starting to add a regular end product to his game and certainly plays the style of football which will suit Chelsea.
The report notes that Everton will be looking to sell Barkley for in excess of £10m which suits all interested parties.
