Chelsea have cited a virus as part of the blame for their 2-0 defeat away to Manchester United on Sunday.
According to the Guardian, several players missed training in the back-end of the week during the build-up to the game as the Blues put in an uncharacteristic performance away from home.
Marcos Alonso had fallen ill during the week, tried to play on Sunday but could not make it through the warm-up and had to be a late withdrawal from starting XI.
Diego Costa and Victor Moses were also thought to be feeling the effects of the virus and both were far from their best against Jose Mourinho’s men.
The loss at Old Trafford did have an affect on the title race in terms of the Chelsea odds, but the fate of the league title is still in their own hands.
The report suggests that Chelsea will have a fully fit squad to face Tottenham in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday night, which could include Thibaut Courtois, who was absence from the defeat due to an ankle injury.
