Chelsea are going strong in the Premier League at the moment and look set to win the title. Tottenham Hotspur are pushing the Blues, but it is hard to envisage Antonio Conte’s side collapsing at this stage of the season.
A number of Chelsea players are doing extremely well. Eden Hazard is looking world class once again, Cesc Fabregas has re-established himself as an important player in the team, David Luiz is not making the mistakes normally associated with him, and N’Golo Kante has been the signing of the summer.
Another player whose name must be mentioned is Diego Costa. The Spain international striker endured a disappointing campaign in 2015-16, scoring just 12 goals in the Premier League. So far this campaign, Costa has scored 17 goals and created 30 chances in 29 league appearances.
Costa’s future at Stamford Bridge, though, is wrapped up in uncertainty. The 28-year- old striker recently suggested that he is not happy with his life in London, with Atletico Madrid claimed to be interested in re-signing him. The striker could well stay on at Chelsea, but the London club should be making contingency plans if he leaves. Today, we look at three strikers Chelsea should be targeting if Costa decides to leave.
Romelu Lukaku is one of the best strikers in the Premier League and has been superb for Everton so far this season. The 23-year- old Belgium international could well end up as the top scorer in the league this campaign. Lukaku struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge in his first spell at the club, and he could be convinced to make the move back to Chelsea as he has some unfinished business there.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is one of the best strikers in Europe and is a world-class player. The Borussia Dortmund star has taken his game to a whole new level over the past two or three seasons, and he would be a brilliant signing for Chelsea. The fact that 888sport has placed the Gabon international striker as second favourite to become the top scorer in the Champions League this season shows just good and prolific he is.

Gonzalo Higuain is one of the best strikers in the world and has been brilliant for Juventus this season. The 29-year- old Argentina international has improved massively since leaving Real Madrid in 2013 and has been a huge success in Serie A. Italian giants Juventus would not want to sell the striker, especially if they win the Champions League this season, but Chelsea should make an offer and test the waters. Higuain is at his peak now, and his experience would enable the Blues to compete for the Champions League title next season.
Of course, signing Lukaku, Aubameyang and Higuain in the same transfer window is not going to be possible for Chelsea, but the London club should be looking to bring in one of them if Costa leaves. Even if the Spain international striker decides to stay put at Stamford Bridge, it would not hurt Chelsea to sign Lukaku or Aubameyang in order to enhance the quality of the squad and to increase competition among the players.
