Chelsea have been linked with a plethora of defenders in the recent few months and no-one has been touted more than Southampton’s central defender Virgil van Dijk.
Now, according to a report from the Independent, the Blues have stolen a march in the chase for the Dutchman and are confident of landing him this summer.
It’s stated in the report that Chelsea have made the 25-year-old centre back one of their top priorities ahead of the summer transfer window and will be seriously targeted.
Van Dijk is currently sidelined but is working his way back to full fitness having been out since January with a foot injury.
The Netherlands international will undoubtedly be high in demand this summer and the Blues will be keen to make him their player by the end of the window, but will know that they face serious competition.
The likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton are also claimed to have shown interest.
