Chelsea readying new deal for Courtois
Chelsea have opened talks with Thibaut Courtois to ward off any suspected interest from Real Madrid.
The Telegraph reports that Real Madrid are considering Manchester United shot-stopper David de Gea as their first choice summer signing.
The two goalkeepers have both been linked with a move to Madrid in the past, but de Gea is now looking like the favourite to make the move.
Courtois has previously rumoured to be unhappy at Chelsea after reported interest from the Spanish giants, but the Belgian is now ready to put pen to paper on a new deal.
The 25-year-old currently earns around £100,000 at Stamford Bridge on a deal that runs until 2019, but he will pocket at least £150,000 a week on his new deal, edging him closer to some of Chelsea’s top earners.
Courtois has produced moments of brilliance throughout the season during Antonio Conte’s title-winning debut season at the Bridge, where he has rediscovered his best form under the Italian.
