Chelsea and Bakayoko ‘quite apart’ on wage demands
Chelsea are believed to be closing in on a €40m deal to sign Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco this summer but there is a sticking point holding up the deal from being finalised.
According to France Football, Chelsea and Bakayoko are ‘quite apart’ when it comes to wages, with the midfielder seemingly demanding more right now than Chelsea had in mind.
The transfer is believed to be taking longer than expected because of this with no side willing to budge as of yet, but the report does hint that the deal is expected to go through sooner or later.
Bakayoko rejected interest from Manchester United in order to commit to a transfer to the Premier League champions.
Chelsea are expected to sell Nemanja Matic to Manchester United in the near future for a reported £40m fee and Bakayoko would be a perfect replacement in the Blues midfield entering the new season.
