Chelsea have confirmed the signing of AS Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko on a five-year deal.

The club took their official website to confirm the arrival of the French international, who impressed many for Monaco last season.

Chelsea had been heavily linked with a move for Bakayoko after he stood out during their title-winning season, which included a memorable Champions League campaign.

The deal to bring Bakayoko to Stamford Bridge is believed to be worth around £40 million.

Bakayoko spoke of his delight after joining the club:

“I am now looking forward to evolving under this fantastic coach and alongside so many great team-mates,” the midfielder explained.

His arrival casts further doubts over the future of Nemanja Matic, who is being linked with a move away from the Premier League champions.

The midfielder could be the first of many through the doors at Stamford Bridge this summer, with head coach Antonio Conte hoping to bring in as many as five players as he prepares his squad for Champions League football.
