After missing out on Romelu Lukaku to Premier League rivals Manchester United, Chelsea have been forced to assess other striker targets with Diego Costa expected to leave the club this summer.

While there is interest in Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata, it’s a player from Serie A that Antonio Conte has his eyes set on.

Tuttosport are reporting that Chelsea have made a mega €100m (£88m) bid for Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain but it has been turned down by the Old Lady.

Higuain completed one of the biggest transfers in history when he swapped Napoli for Juventus last summer in a deal worth £76m netting 32 goals in 55 appearances across all competitions in his debut season for the Turin-based club.

The 29-year-old has a brilliant record in European football over the last several years dating back to his time with Real Madrid and is considered a true world-class centre-forward.

Chelsea are getting desperate in their search for a new headline striker but it would appear as if any move for Higuain may cost a potential world-record fee, something that may put them off submitting a second offer.
