According to the Mail Online, incoming striker Alvaro Morata spoke to ex-Chelsea and fellow countryman Fernando Torres before joining the Premier League champions.

Morata is set to join Chelsea from Real Madrid for an initial fee of £58 million which could rise to £70 million. This would break their transfer record which was previously set at £50 million by Torres himself, who has offered his support for the incoming Chelsea man.

Morata told Spanish outlet AS:

I have spoken with Fernando, who has told me he’ll give me a hand with whatever I need. I have been training hard for whatever outcome, but I was clear that this was my objective. It’s sad to leave Real Madrid, but I hope that everything will go well for me at Chelsea.

However, Morata will be hoping for better luck at Chelsea than Torres, as he struggled to live up to his performances at Liverpool. Scoring 48 and assisting 40 in 182 appearances at Chelsea compared to his 81 goals and 20 assists in 142 appearances at Liverpool.

Morata arrived in London on Thursday as he prepares to complete the final details of his imminent move to the Premier League.
