Atletico Madrid set two-week deadline to seal Costa deal
Atletico Madrid have given themselves a two-week deadline to conclude a deal to sign Diego Costa before they move on to alternative targets.
Football Espana reports that the club are keen to re-sign the forward from Chelsea, but the two clubs are still some way apart on their valuation of the striker.
Costa has been told by Antonio Conte he is no longer needed at the club, and the Premier League champions have since confirmed the signing of Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid as his replacement.
Chelsea are said to be desperate to get the player off of their wage bill and move on from the matter.
The deal has been complicated by the transfer ban forced upon Madrid, but the player is still keen to return to Spain.
Should he move to Madrid, Costa can not be registered to play until the new year and could spend six months on loan at another club.
