Chelsea remain interested in Everton midfielder and Tottenham target Ross Barkley despite their pursuit of Danny Drinkwater.
The Telegraph reports that Antonio Conte is still interested in the England international, who he sees as an ideal option to bolster the Chelsea squad this summer.
Spurs have been leading the race to sign Barkley, who scored just five league goals last season, from Everton but Chelsea have expressed an interest in the past.
Everton are thought to be close to signing Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea, which is expected to be the catalyst that sparks Barkley’s expected departure from the club.
Conte is desperate for more signings at Stamford Bridge, despite bringing in four senior players this summer, costing nearly £140 million.
The Premier League champions are short in numbers with several high profile injuries, as well as having Cesc Fabregas and Gary Cahill sent off against Burnley during the opening day defeat on Saturday.
