Barcelona have bid rejected for Chelsea target Insigne
Chelsea still want to add to their attacking options given the uncertainty surrounding the future of Diego Costa but are no closer to bringing a new face in at Stamford Bridge.
With Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi able to play through the middle, Antonio Conte is after a player who can play in the wider areas of his attack and has been looking at Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne this summer.
Chelsea were facing competition from Barcelona for the Italian forward, but the La Liga club have seen a £54.5m bid rejected and are not expected to renew their interest in the player as they are confident of signing both Ousmane Dembele from Dortmund, a former Chelsea target, and Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool.
Liverpool are also interested in the 26-year-old attacker as a replacement for Coutinho who has recently handed in a transfer request as he looks to push through a move to Barcelona.
It would appear as if Chelsea and Liverpool are going head-to-head for Insigne but will need to cough up more than the £54.5m that Barcelona saw turned down by Napoli.
