Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has allayed fears surrounding Thibaut Courtois’ condition.
The Belgian international was involved in a rather strong collision with teammate Gary Cahill in Chelsea’s 4-0 win away at Stoke this weekend. Courtois was in need of some treatment following the clash, but was able to continue.
However, there were concerns that the towering shot stopper would be unable to take on Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday. Conte, as quoted by West London Sport, has eased these worries, and has insisted that his first choice goalkeeper will be fit and in contention to play.
I spoke with the doctor and I asked if Thibaut was okay. and the answer was positive. He said you can make another substitution.
The player is okay to play the next game at Atletico Madrid.
The Blues were rampant at the Bet365 Stadium, and secured yet another important win on the road. Alvaro Morata scored an impressive hat-trick, his first in Chelsea colours, whilst Pedro also contributed with a well-taken strike.
Chelsea will now turn their attention to what promises to be a testing encounter against Atletico in the Champions League in midweek.
