Tottenham Hotspur full-back Danny Rose would prefer to join Manchester United because he would like to work with Jose Mourinho over Chelsea manager Antonio Conte if he was to leave Spurs in January, according to a report on the Daily Star.
Both Premier League clubs have been strongly linked with a move for Rose and are set to battle it out for his signature in the January transfer window but United look to have the advantage.
Mourinho is already preparing a £45m move for Rose but Chelsea will be hoping to offer something similar, which means it will be down to Rose to decide.
It is understood that the defender has his eyes set on a move to Old Trafford before the World Cup in Russia in the upcoming summer as he wants to play under Mourinho as soon as possible.
Rose has been sidelined for a lengthy period following knee ligament damage early in the year but is now expected to make a return to training within the next week.
The left-back hit the headlines when he revealed in an interview that he was not pleased that Spurs had not won any trophies and that he wanted a higher salary and since then, United and Chelsea have been on full alert.
Rose is contracted at the club until 2021 but is looking increasingly likely to leave.
