Cesar Azpilicueta targeting more milestones for Chelsea
Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta is targeting more milestones for Chelsea after his run of 74 consecutive games for the Blues was halted after being dropped to the bench against Swansea City in the Premier League, according to a report on Football London.
The defender has revealed that it hurt to be dropped to the bench, but the Spaniard is keeping his spirits up by targeting new achievements with the club.
Of course [it hurts]! I want to play every game. We are a team. The manager makes the best decisions for the team, and it was important we won.
Manager Antonio Conte rotated his side for the victory over the Swans due to the Christmas fixture pile-up and he believes that key players like Hazard and Azpilicueta deserved a rest.
It was a nice run. I never thought about the amount of games I played in a row, 90 minutes, but I will try to beat that mark. I’m pleased for the number of games because I know it’s difficult.
The Blues will face West Ham United in the league on the weekend at the London Stadium and will be hoping for a win to keep up the pace with the Manchester clubs, who face each other on Sunday.
