David Luiz to miss West Ham clash
David Luiz will miss the lunchtime early kick-off at the London Stadium against West Ham, as he is recovering from a recurring knee injury, as reported by the Evening Standard.
The Brazilian centre-back has been out of action for the past two weeks, missing the two matches at Stamford Bridge against Newcastle United and Atletico Madrid.
Luiz has not featured since the 4-0 win in Qarabag in the Champions League and hasn’t played a match in the Premier League since the 1-0 win at the Vitality Stadium against Bournemouth in October.
It has been reported that the 30-year-old has an uneasy relationship with Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte, despite the Italian manager dismissing speculation of a fall out between the pair, and the Evening Standard quoting an angry Conte:
If you don’t trust what I say, it’s your problem.
Luiz has not trained with the first-team squad and is doing individual sessions in the gym to help recover from this knee injury.
Chelsea can go level on points with Manchester United with a win against West Ham, albeit with a minor goal difference to the Red Devils, who face Manchester City on Sunday.
