Morata says Conte gets the best out of his players
While Chelsea haven’t yet found last season’s title-winning form early in the 2017-18 campaign, Antonio Conte’s men are still sitting third in the Premier League, just three points adrift of second place Manchester United.
Smart bettors will follow the odds and still bet on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side to take the title this season. If you were to place real money bets using Paypal or some other payment method, the smart money remains on the Citizens. That said, Chelsea have the talent to mount a charge.
The Blues, meanwhile, have been forced to navigate a busy winter months schedule of late, which has forced Conte to shuffle his deck a bit in order to keep everyone fresh. While some players have voiced their displeasure with the constant lineup shuffling, new striker Alvaro Morata says he thinks Conte’s intense style gets the best out of his players.
Morata says he believes he is always at his best thanks to Conte’s rigorous training methods.
Antonio Conte helps you grow because you can never get too comfortable or find a comfort zone. He wants every single one of us to give our maximum.
Morata has been in flying form since making the move from Spain to England over the summer. The Spaniard was an important piece of Real Madrid’s Champions League campaign last season, but he didn’t get as much regular first-team football as he would have preferred.
Now that he is firmly entrenched as Conte’s first-choice leading the line, Morata has lived up to his potential. The 25-year-old has already bagged nine goals in his first 15 Premier League matches.
Last year I wasn’t playing often. Now in every game there’s a real chance of playing. If you train well you are going to play.
Morata sounds as though he is pleased to have moved on and taken a new challenge in England.
If I had been looking for things like money or a city I would have stayed at home, where I had everything. Almost all Premier League players are athletes. Technically, it is not like in Spain but the players are very strong physically.
After sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid in Champions League play during the week, Morata and the Blues will seek to get back into the win column on Saturday when they take on a struggling West Ham side.
