Chelsea ended 2017 on a high with a 5-0 thrashing of Stoke at Stamford Bridge.
Goals from Antonio Rudiger, Danny Drinkwater, Pedro, Willian and Davide Zappacosta sealed the win in emphatic fashion.
Mark Hughes made several changes to his side with one eye on their meeting with Newcastle, but the visitors made it all too easy for Chelsea.
Here are a few things we learned from the 5-0 victory.
Plenty of options for Conte
Stoke dominated the headlines for their team selections but Antonio Conte himself made plenty of changes to his own side.
Both Willian and Pedro came into the side as Eden Hazard was rested.
Danny Drinkwater also came into the side and impressed with a brilliantly-taken goal.
The performance does Conte with something of a selection headache. Drinkwater has proven he can be a valuable member of the first-team squad.
While Conte also has the luxury of being able to seamlessly switch between a 3-4-3 and a 3-5-2.
Morata far from his best
The Spaniard was uncharacteristically sloppy in front of goal.
The former Real Madrid man was gifted an abundance of chances but he was unable to beat Jack Butland with his feet.
To net 10 goals in the first half of his debut season in the Premier League is far from a bad return for the Spaniard, but the Stoke game was not one of his better days at the office.
Classy Pedro
Pedro gave a timely reminder of his ability with a brilliant goal to make it 3-0 on the day.
The Spaniard oozes class and he showed why he remains a crucial player for Conte as he dropped his shoulder to evade the Stoke defence.
Aside from Manchester City, Chelsea easily have the strongest squad in the top six and if Conte can continue to bring the best out of the likes of Pedro when he’s needed, a top-four finish should be no problem.
Second place has to be the aim
With Manchester United faltering under Jose Mourinho, Chelsea moved up to second in the Premier League.
It would take a miracle for Chelsea to retain their Premier League title but to finish second would still be an incredible achievement.
Manchester City are showing no signs of letting up and a second-place finish would be the best Chelsea can hope for.
Showing that Conte can still take this team to the highest level maybe what they need to keep him at the club in the summer too.
