Palmieri in talks over “dream” move
Roma defender Emerson Palmieri’s agent has revealed that a move to Chelsea would be his client’s “dream” move, according to the London Evening Standard.
Antonio Conte has been searching for a left-sided wing-back since last summer, with Alex Sandro frequently linked as the Blues’ number one target, but Palmieri could be seen as a more affordable alternative to the £60million rated Juventus defender.
Currently, Conte only has Marcos Alonso to work with on the left, and Palmieri would represent a smart acquisition.
The highly regarded 23-year old is valued at around £20million, and his representative confirmed in an interview with Calciomercato that both Chelsea and Roma were in talks over a potential deal.
Fernando Garcia said;
Chelsea are a concrete possibility, absolutely. Now the two clubs are talking, we’ll see if they reach a positive conclusion.
Obviously, Emerson would love to play in the Premier League and it’d be a dream to work with Conte, as he is among the best coaches in the world.
Roma would certainly make a profit from selling the Brazilian, who last year switched his international allegiance to Italy, having signed him for £1.7million.
Palmieri has played just twice in Serie A this season, having recently recovered from an cruciate knee ligament injury at the end of last season.
