Michy Batshuayi heading to Borussia Dortmund on loan

Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi has been strongly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this month and it appears he will complete a transfer before tomorrow’s transfer deadline.

German news outlet BILD report that Borussia Dortmund are to replace Arsenal-bound Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with Batshuayi on an initial loan deal.

Dortmund initially wanted Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud in return, and tried to tempt former Cologne striker Anthony Modeste back to the Bundesliga from the Chinese Super League, but failed in their efforts to sign either player and have revived their interest in Batshuayi.

Batshuayi has 10 goals in 25 games for Chelsea this season but has never earned the trust of Antonio Conte to be a viable backup to Alvaro Morata.

Chelsea’s apparent willingness to let Batshuayi leave on loan could hint that a striker is to come in before Wednesday’s deadline, with Roma’s Edin Dzeko still a target.
