PSG linked with summer move for Alvaro Morata

Alvaro Morata’s hot start at Chelsea fizzled out in the winter and it prompted the club to shell out £18m to bring Olivier Giroud to the club from Arsenal and there are claims that the Spaniard could leave the Blues in the summer.

PSG are understood to be interested in signing the former Real Madrid striker in the summer as a direct replacement for Edinson Cavani who is said to be a £55m target for Roma.

Chelsea shelled out a club-record £60m to bring Morata to the club from Real Madrid as Antonio Conte looked to partner up once again with Morata who he managed at Juventus and the 25-year-old had a fine start to life at Stamford Bridge, netting eight goals in his first 11 Premier League games.

However, since the start of December, Morata has really gone off the boil for Chelsea, scoring just twice in his last nine Premier League appearances, struggling with injuries at times during that spell.

With Antonio Conte’s future at the club uncertain, so is Morata’s and whoever the next manager of Chelsea is – should Conte be sacked between now and the end of the season – may opt to go in a different direction to Morata.

Currently sidelined due to injury, Morata could also lose his place in the starting lineup to Giroud who made his debut in the 4-1 defeat at Watford last night.
