Chelsea and Juve interested in Roma star Florenzi
Chelsea are set to battle it out with Juventus for the signature of Alessandro Florenzi from AS Roma, according to Calcio Mercato.
Juventus are said to see him as more of a priority than the Blues do, due to the fact that fellow right-back Mattia di Sciglio not being as consistent as hoped, as Juventus are currently on course to not win the Italian Serie A for the first time since 2010-11.
Florenzi is reportedly close to signing a contract extension, which would keep him in the Italian capital until 2022, which would be 10 years since he joined the club.
The contract would also increase his price tag hugely for any club keen on signing him.
However, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is said to be ready to fight his former club Juventus for the signature of the 27-year-old.
Florenzi suffered an ACL injury which ended his season early last campaign, but this season he has been ever-present almost for Roma, playing in all of the last nine games and very seldom missing a match.
Roma look to progress in the UEFA Champions League, as they face Shakhtar Donetsk in the first leg of their last 16 tie tonight. The Giallorossi currently sit third and look to cement their place to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Florenzi will be a huge part of the team if they do qualify or even get further in Europe this campaign. All that remains to be seen is if he will be a Roma player next season.
