Roma striker Edin Dzeko has admitted that he was “really pleased” that Chelsea made such efforts to sign him in the January transfer window.
Speaking to the Italian media, as quoted by the Daily Mail, the Bosnia and Herzegovina international opened up on his plans for the future and insisted that he is more than happy with life at Roma.
I am happy in Rome, with life in Rome and I don’t like to look back at media rumours.
However, Dzeko did indeed admit that the level of interest from Chelsea was pleasing, with the Blues narrowly missing out on a deal for the ex-Manchester City striker.
They are sometimes true, sometimes just pumping for clicks. There was an offer, negotiations and I was really pleased that Chelsea wanted me. That is all I want to say about that, while I am enjoying in Rome.
Dzeko has been in good form for Roma this season and is a hugely important player for the Serie A side. The club did not want to part company with the player during the mid-season transfer window and as a result of his contract demands, Chelsea walked away from the deal.
The Blues instead pursued Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud as their alternative to Dzeko, but the Frenchman is yet to find the net for the club since his move.
