The news comes as a huge blow to the Welshman, who has enjoyed a fine first season at Stamford Bridge after joining from Exeter City.
Ampadu has surpassed all expectations at Stamford Bridge, featuring in cup competitions and making his Premier League debut earlier in the campaign.
The versatile defender was due to feature in the Dragons’ China Cup at the end of this month.
The former Exeter City defender was named in Ryan Giggs’ first squad, where he was one of several highly-rated youngsters.
Antonio Conte has been a known admirer of the player and Ampadu will be hoping he can bounce back and prepare for next season, regardless of who is sat in the dugout.
