Giroud unhappy with his displays for Chelsea so far
Olivier Giroud has admitted that he has not been happy with his performances in a Chelsea shirt so far.
Speaking to L’Equipe, as quoted by the Evening Standard, the Frenchman opened up on his struggles to find the net with the Blues following his January arrival.
I am happy with my adaptation, the welcome I received, the relationship on the ground with my partners. But, that could have, it should have, been more goals.
Giroud made a surprise switch to Chelsea on the final day of the mid-season transfer window, arriving to replace the outgoing Michy Batshuayi as Arsenal signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The France international has not performed especially badly, however, he has scored just once for Chelsea since signing; this is something that Giroud is desperate to change.
In terms of statistics, I am very attached to this, I remain stuck at one goal and three assists in five appearances. It is sure that it is not enough, but in time I will do it.
Ex-Montpellier star Giroud will also know that it is essential for him to find some form towards the end of the season, with the World Cup rapidly approaching.
Didier Deschamps has a wealth of attacking options at his disposal as France manager and will be looking towards Giroud to step up his game in the final stretch of the campaign.
