Hodgson interested in permanent Loftus-Cheek move

Roy Hodgson would like the opportunity to discuss the idea of Ruben Loftus-Cheek joining Crystal Palace permanently this summer.

According to a report by the Croydon Advertiser, Hodgson has urged the midfielder to at least consider the idea of leaving Chelsea.

For Ruben Loftus-Cheek to consider us seriously as an option, we need to be in the league for the kick off. Let’s keep our priorities right and work hard to stay in this league. Then I’m pretty sure we would be saying to Ruben, is it worth having the conversation with Chelsea, could you consider? Then of course the conversation with Chelsea will come around and we will see from there.

The England international has impressed for Palace in recent weeks, sparking discussion about his future.

Loftus-Cheek has been one of the Eagles’ most impressive performers all season but he has seen his campaign derailed through injuries.

Since joining the club he has been able to play regularly in the Premier League and as a result, earn his first call-up to the England side.

Gareth Southgate is said to be a huge admirer of the player and he could be named in the England squad for this summer’s World Cup squad in Russia.

With a new manager likely to be coming in at Stamford Bridge this summer, there could be yet more change at Chelsea that could play a part in Loftus-Cheek deciding his next move.
