Julian Nagelsmann plays down Chelsea and Arsenal links
Hoffenheim head coach Julian Nagelsmann has played down reports linking him with moves to Chelsea and their London rivals, Arsenal.
The Daily Star report that the Chelsea job could become available this summer with Antonio Conte keen on a return to Italy, whilst Arsene Wenger announced he would be ending his 22-year stay in North London on Friday.
At the age of 30, Nagelsmann is the youngest coach in the Bundesliga and has impressed by finishing fourth and qualifying for the Champions League last term.
They have also done well this campaign, sitting fifth in the table and two points off fourth-placed Bayer Leverkusen with three games remaining.
In an interview with Sky Germany, Nagelsmann was asked if there was any truth behind the rumours linking him with a move to the Premier League:
I don’t think so, no. These are just rumours.I focus on myself and my team the focus is on nothing else. I’m not annoyed by the discussions, I focus on myself and my team and want to make a good game here today.
Chelsea boss Conte looks set to end his two-year stay at Stamford Bridge, having won the Premier League title in his first season in England.
His side’s defence of their title has been a disappointing one, with Manchester City having taken their crown with five games to play and Chelsea in are in serious danger of missing out on the Champions League places.
