# Chelsea’s Title Defence Rests on Diego Costa’s Fitness according to Harry Redknapp

Speaking on his **[official Twitter](https://twitter.com/Redknapp)**account, Harry Redknapp has tipped Diego Costa’s fitness to play a massive part in the Premier League champions defence of the title this season.

Costa was unable to feature for the Blues against Arsenal in the Community Shield after fitness concerns surround the player. Mourinho has also revealed he is likely to miss the first day of the season against Swansea.

The former Tottenham and QPR boss said: “I*f Costa is injured a lot and is going to be missing, that’s the scary part – can they (Chelsea) get away without him?* *If Costa does pick up injuries, and it seems his hamstring isn’t great at the moment, one of (Loic) Remy and (Radamel) Falcao has got to carry the baton and do the job and whether they can is the question mark.”*

Redknapp went on to add: “*Maybe Falcao can do the job, Jose’s placed his faith in him. Jose (Mourhino) can lift people and improve people and if he can get the best out of him maybe they’ll be ok,”*

Diego is unlikely to feature during Chelsea’s final pre-season game against Fiorentina with Falcao expected to start. The 26-year-old scored 20 league goals last season and was influential in the title winning season.
