# Villas-Boas rules out a move to Zenit for Falcao

Zenit manager Andre Villas-Boas has dismissed the rumours linking his side with a move for Radamel Falcao, although he did admit that he tried to sign the Colombian striker in the summer.

Falcao is on a season-long loan at Chelsea but has found life difficult at Stamford Bridge. He has started just one Premier League game and has scored just one goal too.

A lack of playing time may be the reason why rumours are circulating linking the 29-year-old with a reunion with Villas-Boas, who he worked under at Porto.

However, speaking to the [official Zenit website](https://en.fc-zenit.ru/), the former Chelsea manager ruled out the possibility of taking the striker for a number of different reasons and said he hasn’t spoken to Jose Mourinho about the striker:

> I haven’t had a conversation with Jose, the player belongs to Chelsea, on loan from Monaco. It’s difficult to bring such a player to Russia with the rules and regulations we have, we tried to bring him here in the summer at the start of the season, but then the rules changed a week before the season started.

> We can’t bring him here because of the rules and we don’t have space. We have Dzyuba he scored 2 goals, his form is great for the club and the national team and he deserves respect. Due to the limitations we can’t bring Falcao here, his salary is immense too and the financial rules in place prevent this.

Time will tell if Falcao will look to end his loan spell early or if he will be given the opportunity to cement a place in Mourinho’s side. Diego Costa is suffering from another injury, but it is almost certain that Loic Remy will start in his place.
