# Gary Neville questions Eden Hazard’s mentality

Former Manchester United and England defender Gary Neville has questioned the mentality of Chelsea forward Eden Hazard and doubted the Belgians’ ability and desire to become one of the best players in the world.

Neville, speaking on [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football) Monday Night Football said:

> I mentioned three or four months ago that he would become one of the best players in the world. The best players have dips but they still contribute to the team, scoring goals, setting up goals.

> You have to question his mentality. I think he is a good boy but is he a killer? Is he really selfish like Messi and Ronaldo?

> He has to answer those questions now because we eulogised over him all last season but when players like him dip like he has at the moment, he has to take the hit.

Hazard has started this campaign in poor form, almost the exact opposite to last season when he was voted the PFA Player of the Year. He was recently dropped by Jose Mourinho, he also missed a penalty in the League Cup shootout against Stoke and was substituted in the weekend’s loss to Liverpool.

The Belgian has not yet managed to score for the Blues this season, despite making 16 appearances, and has been on the receiving end of criticism regarding his performances.

With Chelsea currently sitting in 15th place in the Premier League table, they’ll be hoping that their talismanic Belgian can return to form quickly as their chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season are slowly slipping away.
