The striker, who has found game time hard to come by during his time with Chelsea, has an unspecified muscle injury, and manager Jose Mourinho confirmed in a press conference this afternoon that Falcao is set for a spell on the sidelines.

Ahead of the Blues’ crucial UEFA Champions League fixture with Dynamo Kiev, Mourinho was questioned over the possibility of the Colombian striker becoming an important player over the course of this season for Chelsea.

However, the under-fire Chelsea boss confirmed Falcao would miss the next set of fixtures due to an injury.

He said:

> Falcao had an important injury. Not so important as the ones he had previously. But he had an important muscular injury and will be out for a few weeks so there is no point speaking about him.

The striker suffered a serious knee injury whilst playing for Monaco in January 2014, following his big-money move from Atletico Madrid, but has since struggled to rediscover his sparkling goal-scoring from.

The Colombian forward has scored just one goal for the Blues this season, in a 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, in 11 appearances.
