# Chelsea scouting a Spanish replacement for Costa?

According to [ESPN](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/2706156/javier-chicharito-hernandez-among-chelsea-targets-sources), Chelsea are preparing to sign a new striker during the January transfer window and the scouting has already begun.

Sources close to ESPN claim that not only is Javier Hernandez a target, but also Spanish striker, Paco Alcacer. The Valencia striker has caught the attention of many times around Europe from his goals at the Mestalla. The pair are included on a shortlist of possible strikers.

Chelsea’s strikeforce has been short of goals this season, with Diego Costa only managing to score three times, Loic Remy has failed to score in the league and Falcao has netted just once, against Crystal Palace.

Alcacer has scored five times for Valencia this season in the La Liga as well as managing to score five goals for Spain to secure their qualification for Euro 2016. Current Blues striker, Diego Costa has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Spanish side.
